Psalm 42-43 |

The coronavirus pandemic has touched nearly every corner of the earth since it first starting spreading in early January. America has experienced the deadliest outbreak, with nearly 1.0 million cases and over 100,000 deaths.

COVID-19 closed businesses, disrupted the transportation industry, and led to widespread unemployment. Coronavirus has caused the worst global recession since the Great Depression.

Psalm 42 and 43 attempts to teach us "how to get into the sunshine again." Here are three stages of the Psalmist's experience, and at the end of each stage there comes the refrain that describes what brought him through, "Hope in God; for i shall again praise Him, my help and my God."

Stage One: "Intense Longing and Desire" Psalm 42:1, 2

Stage Two: "Depression" Psalm 42: 6-8

Stage Three: "Desperation" Psalm 43:1

"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my help, and my God." Psalm 43:5
