Removing Doubts
Luke 24:36-49 |
How do you take a people, huddled together in fear and doubt, and transform them? You help them understand that Christ is risen. It means that He is in our midst, empowering us not to remain in a holy huddle, but go out, first to those closest to us, proclaiming repentance and faith for the forgiveness of sins.
GOD IS BIG ENOUGH TO REMOVE DOUBTS THROUGH THE PRESENCE OF JESUS.
As they were talking about these things, Jesus Himself stood among them, and said to them, "Peace to you!" (24:36)
The peace which Jesus give to those who love Him is a rich, deep and lasting peace. It is His peace, "the peace of God which transcends all understanding, [which guards our hearts and.. minds in Christ Jesus."
GOD IS BIG ENOUGH TO REMOVE MY DOUBTS BY THE REASSURING OF JESUS.
"Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see." (24:38, 39)
The resurrection means that we have something to do. What Jesus is doing for His followers and for us in this story is to calm us down, and show how this is a message of peace, and it is accompanied with something that He is asking us to do.
When Jesus opened their minds by explaining the Scriptures concerning Himself, these believers became effective witnesses to a lost world. Evangelism is not an option, but a mandate! Do you see yourself changing the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? You should!
